The Discovery Workshop is a fun and eye-opening session where you’ll explore how God has uniquely gifted you to serve. Together, we’ll look at the biblical foundations for service and walk through exercises to uncover your spiritual gifts, personality traits, and passions.
You’ll also have the chance to connect with others who share similar gifts—it’s always encouraging to see how God works through different people in different ways!
We ask everyone interested in serving through Personal Member Ministry to start with this workshop. It helps us match you with opportunities that energize you, not just add another thing to your to-do list.
You won’t be left guessing! Each ministry role at Good Shepherd comes with a clear, written description that outlines the responsibilities, time commitment, and expectations—so you know exactly what you’re saying “yes” to.
Plus, every ministry leader receives training to help them clearly communicate needs and support your spiritual growth as you serve. We want you to feel confident, equipped, and encouraged every step of the way.
Your time commitment will depend on the ministry role you choose. Each opportunity has its own expectations, which are clearly outlined in a written role description. You’ll have a chance to review these during your Match-Up Meeting so you can find a role that fits your availability and comfort level. We want your service to be joyful, not burdensome!
Absolutely! We love when members feel inspired to serve in new ways. We're always open to ideas that help others grow spiritually and share Christ’s love. We're currently developing a simple process to make it easy to suggest and explore new ministry opportunities—so stay tuned!
That’s okay! While the Discovery Workshop helps us thoughtfully match you with a ministry that aligns with your gifts, we understand that things can change. If a role isn’t working out, we’ll gladly talk with you about what’s not clicking and help you explore other opportunities that may be a better fit. Our goal is for your service to be joyful and fulfilling—not a burden.
